Food Matters is an experience unlike anything else. We provide convenient, high quality food, wine, and service. Whether you come to dine in our full service restaurant, visit the wine bar, pick up catering, take advantage of easy grab and go food, or to dine in our private dining room, you will experience our staff's passion for our products. We seek to focus on seasonal and superior products from artisinal producers that are local and from around the world.

Food Matters was started by two chefs, two long time Alexandria residents, and a group of people who believed in them. The basic goal was to create an environment where people could come for food, wine, and a sense of community without intimidation, pretense, or pressure. We believe in cooking with integrity and respect for ingredients as well as making wine choices based on what we believe people will enjoy. We strive to connect people to the source of sustenance by sharing the stories behind our products.

In an effort to continue to connect people to the source of their food Food Matters also provides the FMCSA, or Food Matters Community Supported Agriculture, which provides produce, herbs, flowers, and eggs from local producers to our members. The FMCSA, which is one of the most comprehensive, longest-running, and most affordable CSA programs in our area runs from February to November. Food Matters and its owners have strong ties to the community and we believe that it is just as important to give back to the community as it is to be successful. For that reason we have chosen charities that focus on both Alexandrians in need as well as the overwhelming issue of daily hunger in our world.
